<strong>VMware Deployment Engineer</strong><br><br><strong>Hybrid Role 30% Travel</strong> (to Wisconsin) 70% remote. <strong>Salary Range:</strong> $95,000-130,000 (depending on experience and qualifications) <strong>Employment Type:</strong> Full-time, Year-long contract with likely extensions (long-term opportunity) <br><br>We are seeking an experienced VMware Deployment Engineer to join our team supporting critical classified datacenter environments. In this hands-on role, you will lead the startup, integration, and ongoing support of proprietary and third-party virtualization, compute, networking, and storage solutions on hardware in secure, classified settings.<br><br>This is a <strong>hybrid position</strong> with approximately 3<strong>0% travel</strong> to designated onsite locations and 70% remote work. Ideal candidates thrive in dynamic, high-security environments and have deep expertise in Linux, VMware virtualization, and modern infrastructure technologies.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><br><ul><li>Install, patch, configure, and maintain virtualization software and related products on HPE hardware platforms</li><li>Integrate identity management and security controls across multi-vendor products and environments</li><li>Build and manage infrastructure components, including OS image lifecycle management and STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) compliance processes</li><li>Plan and execute the integration of new tools and capabilities into private cloud environments</li><li>Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate security vulnerabilities and operational issues</li><li>Perform startup and integration tasks for new systems and services in classified datacenter environments</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, secure, and compliant infrastructure delivery</li></ul><br><strong>Requirements</strong><br><ul><li>Expert-level Linux skills (Red Hat Enterprise Linux or similar enterprise distributions strongly preferred)</li></ul><ul><li>Strong, hands-on background and experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, etc.)</li><li>Solid working knowledge of container platforms, especially Kubernetes</li><li>Working knowledge of datacenter networking (switches, VLANs, routing, firewalls, load balancing)</li><li>Working knowledge of datacenter storage (SAN, NAS, software-defined storage, vSAN)</li><li>Proven experience performing startup/integration tasks in classified environments</li><li>Experience with OS image lifecycle management, STIG hardening, vulnerability remediation, and debugging complex issues</li><li>Ability and willingness to travel up to 70% to support onsite deployments at designated locations</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in secure, high-stakes environments</li></ul><br><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong><br><ul><li>Experience with at least one major <strong>public cloud provider</strong> (AWS, Azure, GCP)</li><li>Familiarity with HPE hardware platforms (ProLiant, Synergy, etc.)</li><li>Certifications such as:</li><ul><li>VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) or higher</li><li>Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent</li><li>CompTIA Security+ or higher</li><li>Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD)</li></ul></ul><br><strong>Benefits</strong><br><br>Our comprehensive benefits package for full-time salaried employees is effective immediately upon the start date.
