Virtual Bookkeeper – For Small Businesses

Job Summary

HR Service Jobs is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Virtual Bookkeeper to provide remote financial recordkeeping and bookkeeping services to a range of small business clients. In this role, you will manage day-to-day financial operations, ensure accuracy in accounting data, and help small businesses maintain compliance and financial clarity. Key Responsibilities

  • Record daily financial transactions and update general ledgers

  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements with accounting software

  • Process accounts payable and receivable

  • Generate financial reports such as profit and loss statements and balance sheets

  • Assist with budgeting and cash flow forecasting

  • Ensure accurate categorization of expenses and income

  • Maintain records for audit and tax preparation purposes

  • Liaise with small business owners to understand their financial needs and goals

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies

  • Use cloud-based tools (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, Zoho Books) for bookkeeping tasks

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and accounting fundamentals

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, or Wave

  • Excellent data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • High level of confidentiality and integrity

  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting

  • Comfortable handling multiple clients and deadlines

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience, preferably with small businesses or startups

  • Prior experience working remotely or in a virtual client-facing role is an added advantage

  • Certification in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance is preferred (QuickBooks ProAdvisor, AIPB, NACPB, etc.)

Working Hours

  • Flexible scheduling; work from anywhere

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of U.S. and/or international small business financial regulations

  • Familiarity with financial statements, payroll processing, and tax filing basics
