Content Platforms & Operations Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney’s media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, network transmission and origination, and more. The global team also plays a critical role as the primary collaboration point for Product & Technology with Disney’s EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regional business teams. Job Summary: The Streaming Disney Entertainment & ESPN Transmission team supports 24/7 monitoring and operational sustainment for Linear and Event streaming products; HULU, ESPN+, and Disney+. As a member of our 24/7, highly skilled streaming transmission team, you will support critical streaming broadcast systems, oversee and analyzing audio/video transmissions across multiple data centers and ensuring successful management, monitoring, and delivery of live linear and live event broadcast streams, within the IP based transmission ecosystem. You will work with cutting edge technology and be responsible for The Walt Disney Company’s most valuable sports and entertainment content airing on our linear and event streaming platforms. Demonstrates an understanding of signal flows, measurements, and procedures. Basic understanding of Satellite, fiber, and IP based transport (HLS, RTMP, SRT, unicast, multicast, etc.) Quality control and monitoring of event based and linear acquisition signals regardless of format (Linear, IP, Fiber, etc.), ensuring all signals meet strict quality control standards and adjust video, audio and closed captions as required. Perform quality control and corrective action to enhance our products Interact with internal departments and external partners to support daily live feed acquisition, monitoring, and distribution needs. Responsible for troubleshooting and resolution of specific daily operational problems. Expected to fully comprehend and execute applicable SOPs and subsequent workflows for assigned transmission areas of responsibility. Technical liaison to internal departments and external partners Basic understanding of streaming technology and workflows associated with our streaming products (ESPN+ | Disney+ | HULU)

Responsibilities

  • Routing and monitoring multiple A/V feeds to and from our facilities.
  • Quickly identifying and resolving issues in a live production environment.
  • Remotely configure hardware as required for live events and linear acquisition and distribution.
  • Maintain knowledge of new technology and workflows to support various assignments.
  • Comply fully with company and or department SOPs and any other stated policies.
  • Contribute to analysis or problem-solving measures needed to support the operation.
  • Must be adept at understanding routine information and demonstrate comprehension through operational accuracy.
  • Able to work a 24/7 schedule in a fast paced, high profile Technical Operations Center (TOC).
  • Provide professional, courteous, and timely technical support.

Requirements

  • Understanding of digital distribution equipment for broadcast transmission.
  • Basic knowledge of IP based transport (HLS, RTMP, SRT, unicast, multicast, etc.)
  • Must have basic computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Modestly experienced technical contributor with good communication skills working in a 24/7 technical environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior Broadcasting experience, military experience within related fields, or similar transferrable experience.
