Responsibilities

  • Lead the transfer of cutting-edge technologies and know-how from partners into BMW IT concepts and delivery processes.
  • Functionally steer a team to build competence in emerging IT technologies, develop prototypes, and gain support within BMW and partner departments.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with high-tech companies, universities, and the IT community to drive innovation and cultural change.
  • Define, develop, and manage national/international research projects, leading technical teams and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Scout and assess promising IT technologies in areas such as predictive analytics, cloud services, IoT, digitalization, and connected car infrastructure.
  • Oversee scientific and technical research efforts, prepare and present project status reports to management and global IT innovation networks.
  • Supervise interns, contractors, and organize meetings, workshops, and collaboration events in the field of expertise.
  • Manage project administration including work programs, schedules, budgets, documentation, milestone monitoring, and escalation as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer/electrical engineering, mathematics, physics (or related fields) or 6 years of experience as a software engineer/developer.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, machine learning, design and development with a proven track record of delivering products and solutions to the marketplace.
  • 3+ years of experience driving software products from concept and ideation through successful launch
  • 2+ years of working on a team employing Agile/Scrum development methods.
  • 2+ years of experience with IT research preferably postgraduate level at a university or institute
  • Project management experience.
  • Established network in BMW Group IT, research and development departments, and broad understanding of BMW development processes.
