Remote Translator – Immigration & Visa Support Documents

Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Remote Translator to assist with the translation of immigration and visa support documents. This position involves working with legal, technical, and personal documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, and cultural appropriateness in both the source and target languages. Key Responsibilities

  • Translate immigration documents such as passports, birth/marriage certificates, police clearances, academic transcripts, letters of employment, and affidavits from native language into English (and vice versa, where required).

  • Ensure translations are accurate, complete, and consistent with legal standards and terminologies.

  • Collaborate with case managers and immigration advisors to clarify linguistic or contextual nuances.

  • Proofread and edit content to ensure quality, coherence, and correctness.

  • Format translated documents to mirror the layout and style of the original files.

  • Handle confidential information with a high level of discretion.

  • Deliver projects on time within tight deadlines.

  • Maintain a database of terminology and reference materials for continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Fluency in English and at least one additional language (e.g., Spanish, French, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Tagalog, Russian, or Portuguese).

  • Strong grasp of legal and immigration-related terminology.

  • Proficiency in translation software tools such as SDL Trados, MemoQ, or Smartcat (preferred but not mandatory).

  • Excellent attention to detail and linguistic accuracy.

  • Ability to format documents to professional standards.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of professional translation experience (legal or immigration-related translation preferred).

  • Prior experience working with immigration consultancies, law firms, or global mobility services is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Flexible work-from-home schedule.

  • Expected availability to handle urgent projects within 24–48 hours.
