Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Proofread academic, technical, and business documents for grammar, punctuation, and syntax errors.

  • Ensure consistency in formatting, tone, and style based on client or journal-specific guidelines.

  • Fact-check names, dates, citations, and references to ensure credibility and accuracy.

  • Collaborate with writers, editors, and content creators to suggest improvements or rewrites where necessary.

  • Maintain quick turnaround times while preserving the integrity of the original text.

  • Use proofreading tools and style guides (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.) as required by the document type.

  • Handle multiple assignments simultaneously while prioritizing tasks based on deadlines.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Strong attention to detail with an eye for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors.

  • Familiarity with style guides such as APA, MLA, Chicago, and others.

  • Competence in using editing software such as Microsoft Word (Track Changes), Google Docs, or Grammarly.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in proofreading, copyediting, or academic writing.

  • Prior experience with academic papers, business reports, or professional documentation is preferred.

  • Freelance or in-house experience with publishing, academic journals, or corporate clients is a plus.
