They are seeking a PHP Developer to join their cross-functional team, responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of their SaaS web applications and back-end systems. Responsibilities • Lead the end-to-end development of SaaS web applications; designing, developing, and maintaining PHP-based systems, RESTful APIs, and back-end services • Build high-quality, secure, and reliable code, write and execute unit and system tests, troubleshoot and debug issues, and ensure applications are scalable and production-ready • Create and maintain technical documentation and follow secure coding practices to protect applications from vulnerabilities • Review and verify work completed by contract and offshore developers, prepare tickets for deployment, and ensure features are ready for production • Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce coding standards, and identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across applications and databases to optimize speed and reliability • Stay current with industry trends, PHP frameworks, and best practices, applying them to improve systems, workflows, and development standards • Collaborate with architects and team members to design robust, scalable solutions that align with business and platform requirements • Act as the main technical liaison between clients, account teams, and the offshore development group - clarifying requirements, translating needs into actionable technical plans, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery • Manage pre-deployment checks, validate work against requirements, and maintain clear and proactive communication with all stakeholders • Partner closely with front-end developers, UI/UX designers, QA, and product managers to deliver high-quality software • Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences, troubleshoot breakdowns in process or communication, and support a collaborative environment • Provide technical mentorship to junior developers and support their professional growth Skills • Experience building enterprise software with strong proficiency in PHP and modern frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter • Ability to write clean, object-oriented code and fluency in building and consuming RESTful APIs • Solid experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server), including schema design and query optimization • Comfortable developing full-stack features that integrate HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like Vue.js, React, or Angular • Understanding of the full software development lifecycle and ability to contribute effectively to experienced engineering teams • Proficiency with Git and modern collaboration workflows • Hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and scaling enterprise SaaS applications • Understanding of how to build reliable, maintainable, and secure systems • Ability to contribute to code quality and continuous improvement • Experience with AWS or Azure, Agile methodologies, SOC 2 considerations, Linux administration, Docker for local development, and collaborating with offshore teams • Ability to identify gaps in delivery processes and create practical solutions • Setting clear goals, defining steps for execution, and ensuring projects move forward efficiently • Curiosity, resourcefulness, and commitment to solving problems quickly while maintaining resilience and cost-effectiveness • Ability to manage client-facing responsibilities, clarify requirements, and translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and maintain documentation • Ability to build collaborative relationships with both onshore and offshore teams • Adaptability when priorities shift • Valuing diverse perspectives and demonstrating proactive problem-solving • Thriving in a fast-paced, small-team environment with high visibility and opportunities to make an impact Company Overview • Aquila eternally invests in market leaders with staying power across enterprise software, vertical SaaS and data.
