Remote Game Content Localizer – Nigerian Market

Job Summary

HR Service Jobs is seeking a culturally fluent and detail-oriented Remote Game Content Localizer to help adapt video game content for the Nigerian market. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that games resonate authentically with local users by translating, adapting, and editing in-game text, dialogues, menus, and promotional content into culturally appropriate language that aligns with local preferences and sensibilities. This role combines language expertise, cultural insight, and a passion for gaming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Localize in-game content, user interfaces, and narratives from English into Nigerian Pidgin, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, or other local languages as required.

  • Adapt cultural references, humor, idioms, and slang to ensure cultural relevance and player engagement.

  • Collaborate with global and regional teams, including developers, translators, and quality assurance specialists.

  • Review and edit translated materials to ensure linguistic accuracy, tone consistency, and quality compliance.

  • Participate in localization quality testing and review gameplay for contextual accuracy.

  • Provide feedback on cultural suitability and user experience to enhance product appeal in the Nigerian market.

  • Track localization updates and maintain glossaries and translation memory systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Native-level fluency in English and one or more Nigerian languages (Pidgin, Yoruba, Igbo, or Hausa preferred).

  • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills in both English and the target language.

  • Basic understanding of video game structures, genres, and user experience.

  • Familiarity with CAT tools, translation software, or localization platforms (e.g., SDL Trados, memoQ, Smartcat, or similar).

  • Attention to detail and strong cultural knowledge of the Nigerian gaming and entertainment market.

  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle multiple localization projects simultaneously.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in content localization, translation, or copywriting.

  • Experience in game localization or entertainment content adaptation is a strong advantage.

  • Prior freelance or contract-based remote work experience is beneficial but not mandatory.

Working Hours

  • Flexible remote working hours.

  • 15–25 hours per week expected.
