Online English Tutor – Teach Spoken English

Job Summary

Progressive Technology is seeking enthusiastic and qualified Online English Tutors to join our growing remote team. As an English Tutor specializing in spoken English, you will help learners across various age groups improve their conversational skills, pronunciation, and confidence in using the English language. This role is ideal for passionate educators who are tech-savvy, fluent in English, and committed to helping students thrive in a virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct one-on-one or small group online spoken English sessions via video conferencing platforms.

  • Assess students speaking abilities and develop personalized lesson plans based on individual needs and proficiency levels.

  • Teach English conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and fluency through engaging and interactive methods.

  • Track and report student progress regularly.

  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to boost learner confidence.

  • Maintain regular communication with students and/or parents (if teaching children).

  • Attend virtual staff meetings or training sessions when required.

  • Ensure lessons are conducted in a punctual, professional, and engaging manner.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in English, Education, Communication, or any related field (preferred).

  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and patience when working with diverse learners.

  • Familiarity with online teaching tools (Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, etc.).

  • Ability to deliver lessons clearly, confidently, and with enthusiasm.

  • A quiet, distraction-free home teaching setup with reliable internet access.

Experience

  • Prior teaching or tutoring experience in spoken English is highly preferred.

  • Freshers with excellent communication skills and a passion for teaching are also encouraged to apply.

  • Experience with international students will be considered an added advantage.

Working Hours

  • Flexible scheduling options: Part-time or full-time (Minimum availability of 10–20 hours per week).

  • Candidates must commit to a fixed schedule once finalized.

  • Evening or weekend shifts may be preferred depending on student demand and time zones.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of spoken English pedagogy and effective teaching strategies.

  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to adapt teaching styles to different age groups and nationalities.

  • Familiarity with CEFR levels (A1 to C2) is a plus.

  • Competency in using digital whiteboards and other online collaboration tools.
