Location: Remote based with frequent visits to customer sites.

The Role:

AMD is seeking an experienced leader to direct our EMEA HPC and Sovereign AI Centers of Excellence organization. This leader will be responsible for a team of computational scientists, AI specialists, and performance engineers supporting the deployment, adoption, and optimization of AMD technologies within leading HPC and Sovereign AI environments across the region.

As Director, you will provide technical and organizational leadership for customer-facing engineering activities, working closely with customers, partners, and AMD teams to ensure successful delivery of strategic HPC and AI programs. You will lead a growing team of highly skilled technical experts while helping customers maximize the value of AMD platforms through application enablement, performance optimization, and technical collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop AMD's EMEA HPC and Sovereign AI Centers of Excellence team.
  • Manage a geographically distributed organization of computational scientists, AI specialists, and performance engineers.
  • Serve as the senior AMD technical leader for HPC and Sovereign AI customer engagements across the region.
  • Establish trusted relationships with customer executives, technical leadership teams, and key stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight for customer programs, ensuring successful execution of technical objectives and customer commitments.
  • Guide application enablement, performance optimization, benchmarking, and deployment activities on AMD platforms.
  • Partner with AMD hardware, software, product, and engineering teams to improve customer outcomes and accelerate adoption of AMD technologies.
  • Support technical content development for proposals, system procurements, and strategic customer initiatives.
  • Help shape future software enablement and application readiness efforts through close collaboration with customers and AMD development teams.
  • Represent AMD at customer meetings, technical workshops, and industry conferences.
Preferred Experience:
  • Proven experience in HPC, AI/ML, scientific computing, and large-scale computing systems, including the deployment, optimization, and adoption of HPC and AI solutions across research, academic, government, or enterprise environment
  • Demonstrated success leading customer-facing engineering, performance engineering, or technical enablement organizations, including managing and developing geographically distributed teams of highly skilled technical professionals across multiple countries and cultures.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage credibly with computational scientists, technical leaders, customer executives, and industry stakeholders.
  • Experience defining and executing organizational strategy, driving operational excellence, and aligning technical teams with business objectives.
  • Experience supporting AI infrastructure, model training, inference workloads, or AI platform deployment within enterprise, research, or sovereign computing environments.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders and represent an organization in executive-level technical and business discussions.
  • Familiarity with large-scale system procurements and proposal development is a plus.
Academic Credentials:
  • PhD, Master's degree, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computational Science, AI/ML, or a related technical discipline.
