About The Team The RPS Environmental Due Diligence team is currently involved with projects across a range of sectors throughout the UK and internationally. Working with commercial property buyers & sellers, lenders, Private Equity firms and legal teams we are a highly motivated and experienced team that delivers technically robust advice in transparent language. Due to an expanding workload, we are looking to recruit a new Consultant to supplement our existing team and help us to enhance our already excellent reputation. What You Will Be Doing You will be expected to: demonstrate a growing understanding and appreciation of the legislative and technical environment relevant to your area of career interest, together with a willingness to learn from those across your team; to act on directions, seeking clarifications when required; and to gain both knowledge and experience at every opportunity. Assist senior colleagues in managing the projects that the business undertakes including: assisting with coordinating project finances, assisting in the production of deliverables in line with the client’s expectations and helping to ensure deliverables are submitted on time. Conduct research and continue to develop a working knowledge of relevant legal Acts, legislation, regulations, policies and guidelines applicable to your role. Communicate with peers relating to project work, including the ability to ask for help when needed, recognising that this is not a performance shortfall but an expectation. Prepare inputs for client proposals through, for example, information gathering, assessment of relevant data and details and providing appropriate summaries. Where appropriate assist in public consultations with preparatory materials, attend public events in support of a wider client proposal, attend and monitor committee and other hearings. Who We Are Looking For Technical knowledge of current and imminent UK legislation in relation to environmental regulations, policy, guidance and procedures e.g. contaminated land, waste and key operational environmental regulations. Knowledge of applying environmental liability and sustainability principles to a range of projects, preferably within an environmental consultancy. Experience in undertaking Phase I Environmental Liability Assessments associated with commercial property transactions. Basic understanding of corporate (M&A) transactions i.e. auditing operational issues such as permitting, compliance, best practice and legislative requirements across a range of sectors (retail, industrial, commercial). Willingness to travel (principally in UK) and a valid driving licence. Qualifications Degree in relevant subject e.g. Earth Science / Environmental Science / Geology / Geography (relevant Masters (MSc) or post graduate qualification beneficial). Subject to the role and business unit employed within, to be working towards Chartered membership of the relevant professional body in the chosen professional area (see section above relating to specific requirements for this role).
